SOAP Journal 03-05-3008 (Psalm 34:18-19)

Scripture:

Ps 34:18-19 The Lord is near the brokenhearted; he delivers those who are discouraged. The godly face many dangers, but the Lord saves them from each one of them.

Observation:

This promise has no condition and no relative proportion. Brokenheartedness and discouragement are universal emotional states and "dangers" covers a wide swath of circumstances, but God's promise is salvation from 100% of those. Application:
It approaches 0 how often I remember this during discouragement and when I'm brokenhearted. My canceled projects at work combine as one voice into a canceled life if I listen to that voice. And that kills confidence and faith. God's deliverance is long-term and universal. I need to hold onto the promise across time and circumstance - not an easy feat but one without which I will be discouraged and brokenhearted.

Prayer:

Father, let me focus on something other than the immediate drudge and crisis. I need to see the "orach" - the greater highway of Your purpose and be encouraged that YOu will deliver me. In Jesus' name.
